Independent Study
Dorchester
University has flexible programs of study that are individualized to meet
your professional and personal needs. To meet your unique educational
goals, you will be assigned a mentor who will work with you to plan your
degree program.

· study groups with other students learning the same material cross-registration
at other colleges and universities

The
emphasis at University of Dorchester is on the individual, and the heart
of the University's individualized approach to education is the one-to-one
relationship between a faculty member and student. Upon enrolling in the
University, you are assigned a mentor from the dynamic staff of Dorchester
University, who helps you plan and coordinate your course of study. Besides
providing instruction in their own fields of specialization; mentors advise
you about the academic alternatives open to you, assist you in designing
your academic programs, identify the instructional resources to support
study at the University and evaluate the overall quality of your work.
The University of Dorchester faculty are specifically trained in the special
one-to-one model which the University offers. Our faculty comes from a
variety of backgrounds, including traditional colleges, industry, state,
government and private business. Approximately 87 percent of the full-time
faculty hold advanced degrees in their field of expertise. Many have received
grants and awards for distinguished teaching and/or research. Dorchester
University faculty members are uniquely qualified, experienced and suited
to work with mature students.
Dorchester
University offers numerous academic programmes for all levels of learning-
Bachelors,
Masters and PhD. Many of the programmes are available through distance
learning. Each has their own prerequisites and requirements for courses
of study
